Pictures from our new, favorite get-away: Joshua Tree Park. It's gorgeous with it's rock formations and vistas. Adam has fun climbing and we have fun watching - from the ground. :-)

Congrats to Adam! He is in the #1 academic place in his class! Way to go honey! Bryna is getting a lot of "extra" homework from her teacher. She is excelling in math, so they've been sending home extra worksheets for her. I think her addition is better than mine at this point! Livia is my adorable lovey. She's saying so many delightful things like -"MIne pity bown eye." (I have pretty brown eyes.) Gee - think she's ever heard that before? :-)

Here are some pics from our recent excursions. I love the way the clouds rest on top of the mountains. The crosses are from a spot in the desert near our church. I would imagine this terrain is very similar to what my mom saw in Israel. Am I right, mom?

See the prickly cactus? Don't touch! Don't you love the Joshua trees?? I think they're awesome.

Enjoy and Happy Valentines Day (Happy B-day sis!!)

Love, Gena

Man, are we having fun out here. Our days are full with school, work, family dinners (I have a whole new appreciation for those), hiking, wrestling (Bryna's newfound hobby - I guess it's just more fun with Dad), dancing, and site-seeing. We found a great coffee shop in old town.

We also found a great church that we absolutely love. Joshua Springs is huge! Quite the change from our intimate home church. We feel like teeny fishes - but the folks we did encounter were incredibly welcoming. The sermons are solid, biblically sound, and practical. Good worship too! (but not as good as Two Rivers...you guys rock :-)

Online sermons are great! I've had the pleasure of listening to them online this week. What a great resource. I was very impressed by TRVC when I saw they were available there - this was before we were attending.

The girls and I have been taking hikes up "our" mountain before dinner each night. Last week, we saw a small coyote. They're pretty cute when you're inside the car. I don't think I'd like meeting one on the trail, though.

Adam is doing great in school. He is class guide, second in command to the class NCO - a USMC Sgt. He loves his course of study, and is encouraged by so many positive comments on his performance from his commanders. He's also been meeting some believers on base. His company commander is a believer. He was suprised, when dropping off Bryna at her children's church, to see him leading worship for the kids service!

We went to that super bowl party on base at his NCO's house and the rest of the class. I was so glad to finally meet another Marine wife. She was fairly new to the Marines gig as well, but it was good to know that there are others out there.

Still loving the sun, sand, mountains, and blue skies....but missing our family and friends. Love to you all... Gena
