073106 - Our Seven Year Annivesary. :-)
Six days.
Today is our first blog entry. Hooray technology!
Six days until Adam leaves. He went up to Fort Snelling today with his recruiting officer, Staff Sgt. Lomax. He had his interview at the base with the officer who will oversee him once he's made Reserve status. Then - the fun part - I think they're making a stop at the "Marines Store" afterward. He'll pick up t-shirts, mugs, and other fun Marines paraphonalia.
We are recouping today from a fun gathering of friends and family held yesterday to wish Adam farewell. We had a great turn out of support and encouragement. What a blessing it was to know that we have so many people behind us who have committed to pray for us. We have had so many people offer their time to us - whether the need be babysitting or whatever. Amazing.
As the day draws closer we struggle with the saddness of our seperation. But it's very encouraging to look back on the many ways that God has completely confirmed this new direction as His will for us. Adam is feeling quite anxious due to the unknown. Now that it's so close, his comment has been that he wishes he could just go! - just so he can get past this time of uncertainty.
I'll try to update as often as possible - and will use the blog as a method to provide feedback from Adam too! Anyone else who is lucky enough to get a letter from Adam is welcome to do the same on this blog as a comment.
It's quite the journey we're about to embark on. We're not always certain of the twists and turns, but we do know that God is right next to us along the way.
Our church has been doing a series on Courage. Somewhat of a portraits series - where we examine the people of the Bible and how their legacies have reflected the opportunity to take courage in God and a testimony to His faithfulness. We have a little flier up on our fridge that reads, " COURAGE. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
I know this will be ingrained in our memory and on our hearts as we take the leap of faith every day!! I think that's really what it will require. But that's an opportunity I look forward to. God doesn't waste anything - I see this as a chance to rely on him and move forward knowing that He's the only source we have - for everything.
Much love,
Gena
